Nice!!!

What makes this song in for me is the sliding effect that starts to happen around 1:23 and gets more implemented as you go on.

The following is my opinion and is not neccessarily a valid argument for everyone, I hope you don't take offense.
What I really don't like and have never liked is 3x osc arp king with a HP filter (I assume that's what you're using, if I'm wrong I've just made a fool of myself, oh well).
Perhaps the faint scraping of that particular 3x osc would be better if you were to have the insert filter set to LPx2 and taking the Filter cutoff frequency (modX) and its resonance (modX) to about 50 percent of their influence.

You made tetris proud.

P.S
If you really love that song then it is your duty to take a look at this:

I love it.

There is nothing I can say about this but: beautiful.
The delay and reverb effects make this piece amazing.
It is a nice loop.

I would like to ask you; how did you record or/and produce this sound. Is this a vst/sample or a plain recorded piano?
The faint faint noise heard (intentional or nay) suggests a recorded sample hence the cleaner echo than to be expected from a recording.

Maverlyn responds:

Done in magix music maker. i'm just seeing what the public likes so i can build upon that pm me if you want the samples :)

Quite nice

I find it easy and nice to listen to this but this song hangs in the balance between "great" and "a little repetetive".
The melody or "feel" of this song is nice and the relief of change is immense when it comes to 2:10, great work.

I'm not trying to be arrogant but:
May I assume that perhaps you're using FL studio?
May I assume next that there is a limiter set as a default on the "Master mixer track"?
May I then assume that you haven't tweaked the ceiling or the gain properly?

I'm sorry if I come off as really mean to you by asking these questions but I feel as if there is a certain peaking action being corrected by the limiter which seems to disrupt the string spiccato to a slight volume falter every time the bass kick hits.

Otherwise the sound is excellent :)

Djflashstep responds:

this may sound strange but i was going for that. I wanted to make the kick seem more powerful, yet still achieve the string hits. Side chaining if you will.

Ok!

I'm sorry if I'm harsh, I'm only trying to give advice. Keep that in mind :3

Correct me if I'm wrong:
DL_The Funk set as a re-stretched or sliced drumloop at 100bpm
FL Keys at default or concert piano.
I won't fuzz about the ambient background because I find it fitting :)

The problem I have with listening to your song, simply put, is tempo and choice.
"The tempo" for the score itself is great but the drums don't cope too well in my opinion. Even though it isn't exactly horrible, the beat, it sounds odd at that pace.

"Choice". This choice is by no means your fault I think but I urge you to search the internet for something called "CvPiano" or "Giga virtual instrument piano". It is a better "choice" than Fl keys, honest :) It prevents the attack, however the velocity, from being a dull constant for example. The best thing about CVpiano is that it is completely free and can be really good when properly tweaked.

The score in itself is quite easy and minimalistic which isn't a bad thing and I guess you get away with the double taps later on in the song.

I would've given you higher than a six if it weren't for the drums and choice of piano. I hope this helps :)

Djadmin responds:

You really know what your talking about man. Keep in mind though I'm still a serious noob with composing. Also this was an old piece I wanted an honest (yep that's you) review. So please check out my other stuff and tell me if i ever improved.

Yes!

I would imagine this song to be in a 30's short independent movie.
The way use panning (stereo adjustment) is quite nice. However the bong drums or the timpani sounds get on my nerves when they are so far to the right.

A question too! What kind of a pluck sound is that exactly? (From the beginning I mean) :รพ

Orkenork responds:

Thank you very much for the nice words. =)
I'll remember to put the percussion in the center next time.
The pluck sound, you ask? It's one of the presets of FL Studio 8.
Sytrus > Plucked > Classic

Oh my... :)

This piece is one of a kind.
I love how every element of this song complements each other.
It's incredible and well deserves my ten and my vote of five! Favorited!

A quick question though? The strings in the beginning of the song; did you manually adjust the decay/release(?), that is, if the strings are samples which I suspect. Not that there's nothing wrong with the strings, I'm just curious.

DeathBasket responds:

Yes, they are samples. I changed the attack and decay time to try to be something like in the original piece, there's also a load of reverb on them because I thought it sounded nice.
Thanks for the review!

Surprising

This song is beautiful. It's just... satisfaction to listen to it.
However, the music box or marimba thingy sounds weird when playing in chords from 2:12 to the end. I don't perfectly grasp at what it is though.
I'm not saying you should drop the lowest key or whatever. This song is good as it is and should stay that way..

Extraordinary

The changes you mentioned in the song make it more alive if anything; you at least pull it of without making it sound (kind of) epileptic. The only change I didn't quite like was at 3:03, but it is soon forgotten in the bliss of the following pad

The scene you portray in your description is well fitting, btw.

Acid-Paradox responds:

Yeah i know what you mean , im terrible doing transitions but i wanted to make like a "sudden" change like if the test subjects suddenly awakes from something.

Thanks for the review :)

Ruben -Acid Paradox-

A nice piece.

This song kind of reminds me of something I heard in the half life series. It's powerful, it's partially easy-going, it's great.

But when I listen closely to this song there is something unpleasant about it. It is as if it had been rendered with an improperly adjusted buffer hence the vague rasping noises but maybe they were intentional. What program are you using? :)

INFINITYMUSICPROJECT responds:

Thanks!
I'm using FL Studio 9, and I don't even know if I still have this file because my computer crashed on me and all my older stuff was lost :'(
But I might!
Thank you for your review!

Nice!

I don't exactly if you're really trying to capture Yggdrasil or any of it's inhabitants but this kind of made me laugh, the description too.

Who threats to compose a song? :)

TheDDJ responds:

Thank you sir. I put some good work into it.

As for how, close your eyes while you listen. Its Yggdrasil. The world and everything in it. <333

Thank you for the seven :3

P.S. As for who threatens people with songs? I do! They call me <insert dramatic pause> TheDDJ <Randomswordclashysoundeffects>

P.P.S. I'm not a hippie. That answer made me seem like one :c

I wish I were productive
